Music For About 14 Musicians began as an exercise in style for a large ensemble class at St Mary's Music School, Edinburgh exploring influential music from around the globe. Introducing Steve Reich's classic minimalist work Music for 18 Musicians, the group's instrumentation of multiple violins, pianos, and assorted winds, with occasional variations - hence the 'About' in the title - lent itself well to the genre.
This condensed version for video was put together during the Covid19 lock-down in June 2020. Visual artist Susheila Jamieson's perceptive photographic art provides a sympathetic backdrop to the music.
